internship with mbgreene bags and the gulf shores store
2024-2025
Interning at mbgreene was a hands-on, deep dive experience into how an expanding business is run. I was initially hired in 2024 for product launches and helped plan mbgreene’s big 10th-anniversary event over the course of a year.
A key moment in 2025 was helping with the launch of the Gulf Shores store, which Mary Beth co-owned. At the Gulf Shores store, I managed photography and graphic design, capturing the brand’s bold image. I also handled stocking and other hands-on tasks during the launch to keep things running smoothly.
There’s much more from my time there, but these are the main projects I worked on day to day and the skills I will carry with me. This role gave me a potent mix of creative design, operations, and strategic planning in a product-driven retail setting.
key skills highlighted
-
I supported the custom side of the brand by helping customers bring their personalized bag concepts to life. This included mocking up products from scratch, refining existing silhouettes to fit specific needs, and designing artwork or logo placements for customers to visualize their bags digitally before production. I also learned how to communicate directly with the factory—creating spec sheets, defining measurements and colorways, and ensuring prototypes were accurate and ready for final manufacturing.
-
Working across both the warehouse and the retail store gave me a full understanding of product flow—from ordering and inventory management to pricing, storage, shipping, and delivery. I also interacted directly with the factory to understand lead times, production schedules, and how order quantities affected our inventory planning. This hands-on experience taught me how merchandise is moved, tracked, communicated, and controlled from production all the way to the customer.
-
I created a wide range of branded materials including tags, catalogs, stickers, booklets, and other physical marketing pieces, all aligned with the brand’s aesthetic. The role involved a significant amount of graphic design work, requiring adaptability, consistency, and a strong eye for visual storytelling.
-
I worked closely on evolving the brand’s identity by updating logos, refining visual elements, and helping shape a more fresh, modern direction while still honoring the established look. This included contributing to creative planning for the brand’s 10-year anniversary and ensuring all design choices supported a cohesive, recognizable identity.
-
I contributed heavily to the creative vision behind social media content and photoshoots, pitching concepts, styling visuals, and directing shoots. Working within a small business allowed me a lot of freedom to propose ideas and see them through from concept to approval to execution.
-
I produced and scheduled content across multiple platforms—shooting photos and videos, creating stories and reels, updating Pinterest, launching a new Pinterest presence, and designing digital assets for the website. Along with content creation, I curated posts based on what was trending with our audience and tailored content to match our consumer profiles. This ensured our social presence stayed relevant, engaging, and aligned with the brand’s evolving community.
-
The brand’s motto, “we live in the details,” guided my design approach. I pushed myself to blend the company’s established visual language with new, younger ideas while paying close attention to personal touches, fine details, and the preferences of the leadership team. Every design decision from color to layout was intentional and precise.
